Beauvais, October 2, 2025
On October 2, we had the pleasure of organizing a press trip dedicated to the launch of the first Animal Welfare Label in the pork sector - a pioneering initiative spearheaded by the Association Étiquette Bien-Être Animal, in conjunction with the UNEBIO producers' group and Auchan.
An initiative born of a collective desire to improve animal welfare
Since 2017, the Association has been working to provide clear information on the living conditions of animals and to support the industry towards better practices.
With UNEBIO organic pork, the approach extends to a new species: a major step forward for transparency and the valorization of farmers' work.

Towards harmonized labelling in line with scientific recommendations
More than 310 criteria are evaluated throughout the animal's life, according to a methodology validated by ANSES and EFSA, guaranteeing reliability and readability for consumers.

Exemplary co-construction
Producers, marketers and animal protection NGOs have worked together to build a robust reference framework that can be applied in the field - an approach recognized at scientific level.

A response to European expectations
At a time when 90% of European citizens are in favor of animal welfare labeling, this French initiative has established itself as a credible, exportable benchmark.

Many thanks to Philippe Legeay and Benoît Destailleur, organic pig farmers at Ferme de Mésenguy, for their warm welcome; Ludivine Engoulvent and theUNEBIO team; Auchan; and the journalists present for their interest and constructive discussions!
